   WHO AM I

Proud wife, elite runner and passionate engineer.

I was born and raised in Deer Park, WA, just north of Spokane. I am the youngest of 8 children, 2 girls, 6 boys, and I am best friends with all of my siblings. We are all the same amount of crazy and fun. My parents are amazing for raising us the way they did and I couldn't be where I am today without their support.

I started running in high school to kill some time while my brother was at football practice. Little did I know this 'time-killer' would become a complete lifestyle change for me; I fell in love with it! After competing twice in the WA State XC Championships, I continued on to college where I ran XC and Track for the University of Portland, while working toward my degree in Mechanical Engineering. Fast-forward 6 years; I am now a Tool Design Engineer for Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Portland, OR, and I recently graduated with my MBA at the University of Portland. Additionally, just this past fall my husband and I started his local woodworking business, Built By Fuchs LLC.

In addition to running, I play on the Boeing Golf League, where I am trying ever so hard to consistently beat a score of 60 for 9 holes (I may have done it once...)! On the plus side, I can drive the ball 200 yards, so I just need to work on my short game. I love any sport that involves running; tackle football in the snow, two-hand touch football in the summer and ultimate Frisbee. Typically I will try to turn non-running sports into running sports as well (running to my ball in golf, running to my Frisbee in Frisbee golf, etc.) Honestly, I just really like moving :)

I hope you enjoy my blog and I look forward to sharing my thoughts on running with you!
